What happens if our activities get stormed out?
We can run most of our activities in the rain, but in the case of lightning/thunder, we will pause all ropes (ziplines, climbing, etc.) and water activities until it passes. If our staff are available, we can work with you to reschedule for another time during your retreat if possible. If your group is unable to participate in an activity that you had booked, you will not be charged for that activity.
Is there wifi at Camp Tekoa?
We have wifi in the Dining Hall and Laurel Lodge that is available for you to use. Our cabin spaces do not have wifi and cell service can be spotty, so be prepared to disconnect and enjoy nature while you’re here!
How are meals structured?
Each retreat group will work with our Food Services Director prior to arrival to plan a menu that you’re happy with. We will accommodate any allergies and dietary restrictions. Our typical meal times are 8am breakfast, 12pm lunch, and 6pm dinner. Meals are served cafeteria-style where Camp Tekoa staff serves each meal for your group. We require food service for groups staying in main camp, and charge for a minimum of 50 people.
What cleaning am I responsible for?
While renting Camp Tekoa’s facilities, we ask that you take care of and clean the spaces you’re using. Each night, please empty the trash cans located on the front porch and pavilion. Please empty the Dining Hall trash cans at least once a day and as they get full. Before your group departs camp, we ask that you sweep each cabin and porch, and empty the trash.
What should we bring?
Groups are responsible for their own bedding (single bunks), linens, clothes, toiletries, etc. You are also welcome to bring activities like games, crafts, and sporting equipment. If you would like to do music or video, you are welcome to use our screen and sound system, but will need to coordinate this ahead of time. Groups often choose to bring snacks and these can be kept in the dining hall. Some activities require closed toed shoes and all participants should bring weather appropriate clothing - mornings and evenings can be cool in the mountains!
Can we arrive early or stay late?
Our check in time for weekend overnight guests is 6:00 pm on Fridays and our check out time is 11:00 am on Sunday. Picnic groups run from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to other camp programming, we are not able to allow groups to extend their stay.
We’re an adult group - can we bring alcohol?
Camp Tekoa is a tobacco, drug, and alcohol free facility, and this applies to all groups. We also ask that groups refrain from weapons and from items that can damage our property.
Does Tekoa provide childcare?
Our Tekoa staff are available during your stay to provide food service, coordinate activities, and help with your general needs. However, we are not responsible for the supervision of children and youth. We require adults to be present at the waterfront and at any ropes elements, and expect that supervision will be taking place during the retreat as a whole.
